With the advent of crossovers and smaller SUVs, one would think that truck and big SUV sales would dip. However, the big SUV retains its popularity and the demand is as strong as ever. These vehicles have a customer base that is spread out from college kids who need to haul all their friends around to families and even people who have trailers. These vehicles are tough and the low fuel costs keep mileage figures largely irrelevant for the faithful customers of this category.
1. Mercedes-Benz GLS
Mercedes-Benz GLS is not the biggest or most economical SUV on the market but surely stands out. It is simply beautiful and has all the refinement, luxury, and looks that one would expect from a Mercedes. It is spacious and has a third row that can seat two people. The standard twin-turbocharged engine has six cylinders but an optional V8 is also available.
2. Chevrolet Suburban
The Chevrolet Suburban is still a name that holds its own in the SUV category. It is very reasonably priced when compared to other 2019 SUVs. It is longer than the other SUV in the Chevrolet stable and performs well and has a V8 paired with automatic transmission. It can seat up to nine people and has amazing towing abilities.
3. Lincoln Navigator
This SUV is available in options of regular and extended body style. It has luxury features and a 450 hp twin-turbocharged V6 that performs extremely well on and off the road.
4. GMC Yukon/Yukon XL
GMC’s Yukon has a longer wheelbase than the Chevrolet Tahoe. It has many options and the higher trims are very luxurious. These SUVs are not only good looking but very capable SUVs that can carry up to eight passengers and have a high towing capacity.
5. Chevrolet Tahoe
The Tahoe has a shorter wheelbase than its siblings. It has a rather cramped third row of seating and smaller cargo space.
6. Ford Expedition/Expedition Max
Ford’s Expedition and Expedition Max are rather pricey when compared to other 2019 SUVs. The interiors are not as great as one would expect for the pricing but the roomy seats, engines, and the independently suspended rear axles make up for it.
7. Nissan Armada
This mechanics of this SUV is very similar to the QX80 which is actually pricier than this SUV. The optional equipment on offer is also very similar to the pricier QX80. The engine does deliver 10 horsepower less than the other car and the badges and interiors do differ.
8. Infiniti QX80
This SUV is very similar to others in the 2019 SUVs category such as the Cadillac Escalades, the GMC Yukon Denali, and Lincoln Navigator but it is costly. It looks great and has a great sounding 400-hp V-8 and offers a smooth ride.
9. Cadillac Escalade / Escalade ESV
The Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV are the shorter and longer wheelbase SUV options from General Motors. It is a capable SUV but on the luxury and features front not as impressive as many of the others in the category.
10. Toyota Sequoia
This SUV is good but is getting outdated. It has newer safety features but the rest under the hood needs an upgrade.
